This story is inspiring and touching, that's why I'd like to share it with all my web visitors.  Mark Zimmer emailed me a few days ago asking if I could help share his story.  Mark, you really are climbing mountains and peaks for so many in our country who are unable to because they are behind the veil of this cruel disease.  Thanks for your inspiration!  And for all my web visitors, read on to find out how you can become involved in his crusade to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease!

Grand Rapids, Michigan - May 13, 2008 - Mark Zimmer, a 22-year-old student from Grand Rapids, Michigan, is getting started on a lofty and longtime goal, climbing the highest point in each state in the U.S. He has entitled his venture "Summit Up" and will use it to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease by auctioning off flags that will go to each of the 50 peaks.

Zimmer will use his personal goal of climbing these 50 summits, which less than 200 others have done, to show that anything is possible if you put your mind to it and to raise money for a charity close to his heart. When asked why the Alzheimer's Association, Zimmer replied, "My great-grandmother died from the disease, and my grandfather is in its final stages. I personally know how this terrible disease affects every member of a family going through the long and painful journey that Alzheimer's takes you."

Starting in April of 2009, Mark will begin his climbs. Between now and the end of the year, his venture, "Summit Up", will be auctioning off the opportunity to 50 businesses, organizations, or individuals to have their flag flown on the top of each of the 50 state high points, and to have a picture displaying this proud moment mailed to them each time. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.

Auctions begin at the bargain price of $1,000.00 for the whole package, which is $20.00 a peak, with all the money going to charity. Zimmer notes, "This is a very unique way for companies or individuals to gain recognition as a supporter of a great cause, and to receive an incredible set of pictures to display."
